We have always known it empirically. And now, the healing power of music is being quantified as data with the advancement of medical technologies. Music can lower our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/AC.70.6.3120183\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blood pressure<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S174438811530013X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">regulate our heart beat<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/synapse.koreamed.org\/search.php?where=aview&amp;id=10.15384\/kjhp.2017.17.2.119&amp;code=2181KJHP&amp;vmode=FULL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reduce stress. <\/a>\u00a0Participating in short term musical training\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1177\/0956797611416999\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">can improve our verbal abilities and executive function<\/a>. It is natural for us to want to move together to music. <strong>Rhythmically synchronized movements energize us, and strengthen our bonds<\/strong>. In this segment of the workshop we will start from clapping, then walking to the rhythm of music. We may even dance a bit!<\/li>\n<li>Melody: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hup.harvard.edu\/catalog.php?isbn=9780674025592&amp;content=reviews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Musical melody reflects our natural vocal inflections, our primal and innate human need to express and communicate<\/a>.\u00a0Listen to the vocal tones, inflections and the timings of your conversation partner, beyond the words. Then explore your own choice of vocal tones, inflections and timings. Broaden the vocal expression from a monologue to a dialogue, a classroom presentation to a speech in front of a crowd. Then, compare it to songs we sing. <strong>The exercise will make our communications more effective<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Harmony: Consonant sound waves create synergy, whereas dissonant sound waves clash with each other. At the same time, division of labors between the executors of details (team members) and overseers of the big picture (leader) is also clearly embodied in the conductor-musician relationship. If it was to be a bigger group, an assistant needs to be hired.<br \/>Required Space: Big enough for everyone to move around with their arms spread out.<br \/>Age: High School and older.<br \/>Examples:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Self-care and stress management for professionals in high-stress work environment.<\/li>\n<li>Corporate teams with a challenging project, or communication issues.<\/li>\n<li>People in need of transcending cultural, and\/or language barriers in their workplace.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Equipment Required\/Desired:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Screen to project the power point presentation.<\/li>\n<li>Sound system<\/li>\n<li>Electronic pianos for each team for their sound logo compositions, and a computer that can be connected to the keyboard for sound processing (optional &#8211; please consult).<\/li>\n<li>Chair and desk for each participant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are in a test-run phase for this workshop.
