My “Weekend Live” Today will Feature “Fireworks” and canons…

Happy 4th, everyone!!

While we cannot get together for a cookout, parades, or fireworks, I’ll be doing #3 of my “Weekend Live!” Live-streaming today at 5PM (PT)/8PM (ET). Join me!!

I will play Bach’s Goldberg Variations 2~6, the ones I’ve been analyzing in my “Morning Practice Live!” from Monday to Friday this week. Variations 3 & 6 will feature two-voice CANONS!! …Not the kind of canons you’re used to hearing with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture, but canons nonetheless 🙂

I will then play some George Gershwin. Born at the end of the 19th Century Brooklyn to Jewish immigrant parents, Gershwin is, in so many ways, “American.” He drew his musical inspirations from classical, jazz, and popular idioms. I will play his Three Preludes.

Then, I will play “Feux d’artifice (Fireworks)” from Debussy’s Preludes Book II. It’s a painting for the ears.

Fireworks in Osceola: Have fun, but use caution and consider others

  1. I loved the concert today. Have you done a Gershwin CD or compilation? You play his music so beautifully and spiritedly.

    1. Thank you so much! No, I have not recorded Gershwin, but if you’d like maybe I can play Rhapsody in Blue the solo version on one of these concerts 🙂
I am so glad you enjoyed it!!
