Earlier today, Coeuraj announced its Global Courage Fellowship Program with the subtitle “Bridging Divides: Building Trust in an Increasingly Polarized World.”
Fellows consist of “individuals who have played a leading role in building bridges and trust within and/or across sectors, communities, and cultures to benefit others.” One is advocating for the release of world’s political prisoners after he himself was shot and imprisoned in Egypt for campaigning for freedom of expression. Another is a counterterrorist expert working for the U.N. A fellow from Gana started a publishing company for children’s books with African characters after she noted how all the available children’s books were from the U.S. and Europe. There is also a comedian and film maker. Just hearing them introduce themselves was inspiring at our kickoff event yesterday.
At this point, I don’t know what this fellowship will come to mean for me, my work and my life. But it is exciting, and I will give it all my best.
