インフレと生活費の高騰。国際紛争によるエネルギー安全保障問題。世界的な流通問題。景気後退の噂さ。不安定な株市場…
今まではこういう時に真っ先に削減されてきたのが文化芸術事業でした。でも、医療機器の発展によりソフトパワーの効用がデータ化出来るようになり、徐々に意識に変化が起こっています。社会の進歩・発展は直線ではない—特にトランプ政権時代には暗澹たる思いになる事もありました。しかし、パンデミックや環境問題による自然災害の増加など、グローバルな問題が多発・深刻化する中、徐々にソフトパワーの底力が認められてきています。
少し前になりますが、National Arts and Humanities Month（文化芸術月間）前夜の9月30日に、ホワイトハウスから非常に勇気づけられる発表がありました。芸術・人文学・博物館・図書館サービスの促進に関する大統領令です。
「芸術・人文学・博物館・図書館サービスは我が国のウェルビーング、健康、活力、そして民主主義に不可欠である。これらは、アメリカの魂としての多文化性や民主主義を反映する。何世代ものアメリカ人が理想と掲げて来た完璧な連帯の実現に必須な要素である。…（中略）文化芸術教育やプログラムがアメリカ中の子供たち全員に行き渡り、成功に必要な豊かな創造性を培えるように、アクセスを増やす。この政権の環境問題に向けての対応は、連邦政府と社会の芸術・人文学・博物館・図書館への支援によって強化されるだろう。…（後略）」
トランプ政権が文化芸術に対する予算や企画を大幅に削減したのに対し、バイデンは政権発足直後からこれらの企画の再開や新規格の展開、予算の回復と更なる増大・成長を重ねてきています。
日本でも読書の秋、そして芸術の秋ですね。眉間にしわが寄るニュースが多い中、好きな本を読み、絵や音楽を鑑賞して、頬が緩み、呼吸が楽になり、元気な自分が戻ってくるのを一緒に実感しませんか？「腹が減っては戦は出来ぬ」と同じ。すさんだ心ではチャレンジに対応できません。

I was so encouraged by your article. Thank you so much. I am one of them who has been struggling to survive
in Music industry and also teaching job. I am piano teacher with many special needs during pandemic.
Most of special needs kids quit piano and music lessons . Also, same time , many of my teenage students graduated high school and move to other state’s college. I lost 80% income and not much government support.
Finally, I started catching up slowly. It’s very small step one day at a time but I am so glad that I did not give up.
My dream is to contribute our community to spread power of music. I really believe that music education will change peoples heart especially for youth. I am 67 years old but still not give in all my hope or dream. You are always my inspiration. I do really appreciate all your hard work and sharing amazing journey of your life.
